Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council Chief Meets Iran’s Parliament Speaker in Baghdad
Zidan and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf discussed strengthening bilateral judicial and legal ties during a meeting in Baghdad.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zidan received Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and his accompanying delegation in Baghdad on Thursday, with the two sides discussing ways to deepen judicial and legal cooperation between Iraq and Iran.
According to a statement from Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, the meeting addressed strengthening bilateral relations and raising the level of cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran in judicial and legal fields.
The officials also reviewed steps to implement previously signed agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in legal and judicial areas.
On Wednesday, Ghalibaf arrived in Baghdad at the head of a delegation and was received by Iraqi Parliament Deputy Speaker Adnan Fayhan.
Ghalibaf also met with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on Wednesday to discuss developing and strengthening bilateral relations.
He is also scheduled to meet leaders of the Coordination Framework, where they are expected to discuss the issue of disarming armed groups.
