PM Barzani Congratulates President Barzani on Receiving Vatican’s Highest Honor

He described President Barzani as “a symbol of peace and coexistence” and a defender of the religious and national rights of all diverse communities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has congratulated President Masoud Barzani on receiving the Vatican’s highest honor, praising his role in promoting peace, coexistence, and the rights of diverse communities.

In a message, Prime Minister Barzani congratulated President Barzani on receiving the honor and recognition from Pope Leo XIV.

He described President Barzani as “a symbol of peace and coexistence” and a defender of the religious and national rights of all diverse communities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Masrour Barzani said President Barzani continues to uphold “the noble path of Barzan” and the values of faith, purity, and humanity, adding that he deserves every honor and recognition.

“Under President Barzani’s leadership, the Kurdistan Region will, as always, remain an important and shining beacon of peaceful coexistence in the region and the world,” he said.

President Masoud Barzani received the Order of Pope Pius IX (Pian Order) in recognition of his contributions to peace, coexistence, and humanitarian values, following a request by Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Cardinal Louis Raphaël I Sako.

According to the Barzani Headquarters, Sako presented the award to President Barzani during a meeting on Thursday, expressing appreciation for his efforts to strengthen coexistence, humanitarianism, peace, and stability in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region.
