Zakho Hosts First Exhibition Dedicated to Kurdish Brands
The 11-day exhibition brings together local companies and factories to promote Kurdish-made products and expand their reach across Kurdistan, Iraq, and international markets.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In the tourist area of Spi village within the Zakho Independent Administration, 65 local companies and brands from across the Kurdistan Region have gathered for the first exhibition dedicated to Kurdish brands, opening a new platform for showcasing locally made products and connecting producers directly with consumers.
The exhibition, attended by administrative officials, businesspeople, and residents, features companies and factories working in food production, dairy products, sweets, and handicrafts. It will run for 11 days, with several artistic events and celebrations planned alongside the exhibition.
The organizers aim to use the event as a gateway for direct commercial relationships between producers and buyers, while strengthening the presence of locally manufactured Kurdish products in markets across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and creating opportunities for exports abroad.
The owner of Barzan Tahini, one of the participating brands, said its product is made entirely from locally sourced sesame. The owner described participation in the exhibition as an important opportunity to present the product directly to residents and customers in Zakho and allow them to see and taste it.
The owner also expressed satisfaction with the strong reception and large crowds recorded on the exhibition’s opening day.
Representatives of other participating factories and brands likewise highlighted the importance of such events in promoting locally produced goods.
A representative of Sandra Ice Cream said the exhibition provides a good opportunity to introduce the brand’s different products, while a representative of local sweets and baklava producers said all the raw materials used in their products are sourced from local production in the Kurdistan Region.
Meanwhile, a representative of Bafrin Dondurma said the company produces a distinctive ice cream made with goat’s milk from pastures in the Akre and Amedi areas, using modern and health-conscious methods, and has made the products available to visitors.
The exhibition comes alongside the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s efforts to strengthen economic infrastructure and support the private sector.
The stated aim is to facilitate the expansion of Kurdish-made products beyond markets within the Kurdistan Region, opening opportunities for exports to central and southern Iraqi provinces and even European countries.
