Russian Consul General Praises Kurdistan Region, Announces Business Delegation Visit

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Russia's Consul General in Erbil, Maxim Rubin, has praised the Kurdistan Region's positive and strategic role in navigating regional complexities and announced that a delegation of Russian businesspeople will visit the region in early October to strengthen economic and trade ties.
In an exclusive statement to Kurdistan24, Rubin said the Kurdistan Region "plays a very positive and strategic leadership role amid the complexities of the region."
Addressing the Kurdistan Region's relations with neighboring countries, Rubin said he was confident that "no threat to neighboring countries has originated from the Kurdistan Region."
He also highlighted strong bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, noting the presence of major Russian companies in the region.
"We have very good relations with the Kurdistan Region in the energy sector. Major companies such as Rosneft and Gazprom are operating in the Kurdistan Region, and we have also jointly constructed the Kurdistan Region oil pipeline," Rubin said.
The Russian diplomat added that a group of Russian businesspeople would travel to the Kurdistan Region in early October to discuss ways to expand economic and trade relations.
Rubin also announced a cultural initiative, saying Russia would host its first-ever "Russian Cinema Night" in Erbil.
The event will coincide with Russian Cinema Day, which is celebrated annually on October 27, and will feature screenings of several Russian films.
In 2007, Russia opened its consulate general in Erbil, making it one of the first major foreign powers to establish a formal diplomatic presence in the region.
