ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Iraq’s Central Bank has ordered the seizure of all movable and immovable assets belonging to 12 political figures and senior officials as part of cases related to efforts to combat corruption.

On Friday, the Central Bank of Iraq issued an official directive ordering banks, financial institutions and relevant authorities to immediately implement the decision to seize the assets of the 12 individuals, according to official documents.

The directive said the measure is based on a judicial decision issued by the Central Investigation Court for Combating Corruption.

The list includes several members of parliament and former officials.

The Central Bank stressed that all banks must immediately notify the relevant judicial authorities if they identify any deposits or bank accounts belonging to individuals named on the list.

The instruction calls on financial institutions to take the necessary measures in accordance with the judicial decision.

The order places the assets of the 12 political figures and senior officials under judicial action as part of corruption-related investigations.
