Erbil Chamber, Mercedes-Benz Dealer in Iraq Sign MoU to Boost Business Cooperation

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry and BrightCastle Motors, the authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer in Iraq, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, aimed at strengthening cooperation, supporting the private sector, and promoting investment in the Kurdistan Region.
The signing ceremony was held in Erbil in the presence of Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw, Erbil Chamber President Gailan Haji Saeed, BrightCastle Motors Executive Director Bernhard Dolinek, Chamber Vice President Kamaran Salah Saeed Bajgr, the Director General of the Ministry of Trade, representatives of importers, exporters and employers, and members of the Chamber’s board of directors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Haji Saeed said expanding the Chamber’s relations and strengthening coordination with the private sector would contribute to revitalizing the economy of the Kurdistan Region and Erbil.
He said the MoU followed discussions and mutual understanding between the Chamber and BrightCastle Motors, describing the agreement as an important opportunity for Chamber members to engage in joint business activities.
Dolinek highlighted the importance of the agreement and praised the Erbil Chamber’s efforts to advance the private sector and promote trade.
Regarding the importance of the memorandum, Bajgr told Kurdistan24 that the agreement entered into force immediately upon its signing.
“This memorandum automatically enters into force from the day it is signed, which is today,” Bajgr said. “In addition to providing a golden opportunity for the Chamber’s members, it will also greatly benefit small companies by enabling them to engage in joint work, particularly in the field of supplying automotive spare parts.”
Bajgr also pointed to the Kurdistan Region’s security and stability as important factors encouraging major international companies to invest in Erbil.
“Mercedes-Benz has had a branch in Erbil for nearly 20 years,” he said, adding that the new agreement would significantly benefit the industrial sector.
According to Bajgr, the cooperation could also create employment opportunities for university and institute graduates in the automotive and related industrial fields, helping reduce the burden on the government.
Under the MoU, the two sides will develop joint programs, projects and commercial activities, while providing special offers to members of the Erbil Chamber.
The agreement also provides for organizing seminars and workshops, exchanging expertise and information, and supporting efforts to improve the business and investment environment in the Kurdistan Region.
The agreement comes as the Kurdistan Region seeks to strengthen private-sector activity, expand commercial partnerships, and attract greater domestic and international investment through closer cooperation between business institutions and companies.
