Hasakah Security Forces Find Body of Abducted Kurdish Fighter, Identify Main Suspect
Syrian Deputy Defense Minister Sipan Hamo expressed his condolences over Hasso’s killing, which he described as a “brutal crime,” and urged residents to remain calm and exercise restraint to prevent further tensions and unrest in the area.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Internal Security Forces in Syria’s Hasakah Province announced on Friday that the body of Sami Sheikhmous Hasso, also known as “Sipan,” had been found following an investigation into his abduction and killing, while the main suspect in the case had been identified.
According to a statement from the Hasakah Internal Security Forces, intelligence information and video footage documenting Hasso’s abduction prompted security forces to immediately dispatch forensic teams and specialized personnel from the Serêkaniyê Security Directorate to investigate the scene.
Following an expanded search operation and extensive field inspections, Hasso’s body was discovered near the village of Hilu.
Preliminary examinations indicated that he had been shot several times at close range and died at the scene, the statement said.
Based on evidence collected during the investigation, security forces identified the main suspect as (M. A.). Security teams are continuing a broad search operation to locate and arrest the suspect and refer him to the competent court after the completion of legal procedures.
Meanwhile, Syrian Deputy Defense Minister Sipan Hamo expressed his condolences over Hasso’s killing, which he described as a “brutal crime,” and urged residents to remain calm and exercise restraint to prevent further tensions and unrest in the area.
In a statement on Friday, Hamo said Hasso had been a fighter with the Hasakah Brigade and had spent many years contributing to the security and protection of the area and its people.
“With a heart full of grief and sorrow, I extend my condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of martyr Sipan (Sami Sheikhmous Hasso), who was martyred as a result of a brutal crime,” Hamo said.
Hamo condemned media discourse that could incite violence or killing, calling on all sides to remain calm, exercise restraint, and avoid attempts to fuel discord and chaos.
He also said that relevant authorities had immediately arrested several suspects in connection with the killing.
Security efforts are continuing to apprehend all those involved and refer them to the judicial authorities for a fair trial in accordance with the law and in proportion to the gravity of the crime, Hamo added.
