Kurdistan Region negotiating team briefs KDP bloc on Baghdad talks with federal ministries and pushes for constitutional financial rights, salary payments, and unified Kurdish parliamentary stance
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Kurdistan Regional Government's negotiating delegation held a meeting on Saturday with the Kurdistan Democratic Party's parliamentary bloc in Iraq's Council of Representatives, as part of the KRG's participation in preparations for drafting the Iraqi federal budget law for the 2027 fiscal year.
During the meeting, the negotiating delegation presented the outcomes of its recent meetings and discussions in Baghdad with the federal Ministries of Finance, Planning, and Oil, and reviewed the KRG's key positions and proposals regarding the 2027 budget.
The meeting emphasized the importance of enshrining the Kurdistan Region's constitutional, financial, and entitlement rights in the budget, with particular focus on ensuring that the salaries and financial entitlements of the Region's employees are provided consistently and without delay, and that the salary issue is kept separate from financial and political disputes.
The meeting also stressed the importance of coordination at all stages of the budget's drafting and approval process, and underlined the need for continued dialogue and coordination with all Kurdish blocs and representatives in Iraq's Council of Representatives without distinction, in order to build a unified understanding and position in defense of the rights and entitlements of the Kurdistan Region's people in the 2027 federal budget.
