Ghalibaf: Hormuz Strait Stays Closed Until Seven Conditions Met
Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf says the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until its seven conditions under the Islamabad memorandum are implemented.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared on Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the seven conditions of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding are implemented. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not organize its national security on the basis of claims made by American officials.
Ghalibaf made the remarks in his opening speech to Sunday's parliamentary session. He began by noting the approaching third anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel.
"The historic epic of Oct. 7 is a fundamental turning point in the history of the region. The brave mujahideen of Palestine decided to stand with honor and dignity, and they turned the hollow illusion of Israel's security into fear and terror. In this way, the strong pillar of the Israeli regime's national security collapsed," Ghalibaf said.
Turning to the war and the negotiations between Tehran and Washington, Ghalibaf said the US and Israel are helpless in the face of the Iranian people's resilience.
"The Americans say something different in the media. Recently, they have put forward proposals through a mediator. But they must understand that the era of killing time and imposing unilateral demands is over, and the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is very clear and decisive: Until our seven conditions based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding are implemented, the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened," he stated.
The Iranian parliament speaker accused US officials of seeking to mislead public opinion at home and abroad.
"To mislead domestic and global public opinion, alongside economic pressure and military and security steps, they have increased their threats, sometimes making many contradictory statements in a single day. This is a feature of the psychological battlefield, in which the enemy shows a stance of negotiation and agreement one day, threatens war and destruction another day, and later claims mediation and reconciliation," Ghalibaf said.
Ghalibaf believes the aim of this contradictory approach is to sow psychological confusion within Iranian society, undermine the stability of officials' decision-making, and change Iran's strategy.
"But their imagination is raw. The Islamic Republic of Iran is not a country that organizes its public policy and national security by tweets or the daily interviews of American officials. We base our work on the real behavior and actions of the enemy, not on baseless words and false duplicity in the media," he said.
Ghalibaf also spoke about Iran's readiness for confrontation.
"I have said many times that whoever succeeds in the negotiating arena is the one who has prepared for war. Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Axis of Resistance are at the peak of power, and the country is at the height of field superiority and national unity. Under the guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, we will never allow the enemies' imagination about Iran to come true," Ghalibaf declared.
