ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Region Presidency on Sunday strongly condemned the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia and calling for the protection of civilians and efforts to reduce regional tensions.
In a statement issued on Oct. 11, the Presidency said Saturday's attack on the airport in the Saudi capital had resulted in civilian deaths and injuries.
"We strongly condemn the attack carried out yesterday, Saturday, on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, which resulted in a number of casualties and injuries among civilians," the statement said.
The Presidency extended condolences to the victims' families and expressed sympathy with the Saudi leadership, government and public.
"We extend our condolences, sympathy, and solidarity to the leadership, government, and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to the families of the victims, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery," it added.
The statement also reiterated the Kurdistan Region's support for Saudi Arabia and stressed the importance of preventing further escalation.
"We reaffirm our support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and stress the need to protect civilian lives, de-escalate tensions, and safeguard the security and stability of the region," the Presidency said.
