According to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the delegation represented companies involved in defense and security, energy, logistics, transportation, and industry.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday received a joint delegation from the US-Kurdistan Business Council (USKBC) and the US-Syria Business Council, comprising representatives of more than 30 US companies operating across various sectors.

According to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the delegation represented companies involved in defense and security, energy, logistics, transportation, and industry.

At the outset of the meeting, David Tafouri, president of the USKBC, expressed the delegation’s pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and outlined the objectives of its visit to the Region and Syria.

Prime Minister Barzani welcomed the two business councils, reaffirming the strength of relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, even following the conclusion of the Global Coalition’s mission in Iraq.

"The US-Kurdistan relationship remains strong even as the Global Coalition mission in Iraq has come to an end," he said.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, expanding trade and commercial cooperation, and encouraging greater US investment in the Region.

Barzani also discussed the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider Middle East. He reiterated the KRG’s readiness to facilitate investment by domestic and international investors and provide the necessary conditions to expand investment opportunities across various sectors.

The Kurdistan Region has sought to attract greater foreign investment and diversify its economy by expanding private-sector activity and strengthening international commercial partnerships. Engagement with US businesses offers opportunities to explore cooperation in energy, infrastructure, logistics, and other sectors as the KRG seeks to develop the Region’s investment environment.
