Iranian Parliament Speaker: Iran Pursuing War and Negotiations Simultaneously
“To achieve our goals, we will both fight and negotiate,” Ghalibaf said, adding that Iran would confront its adversaries with full force when necessary and increase its military readiness whenever possible.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Wednesday that Iran is simultaneously pursuing a strategy of war and negotiations, warning that Tehran aims to force its adversary to accept the Iranian people's demands or face defeat.
In a statement issued by Tasnim News Agency, Ghalibaf said Iran would continue both military confrontation and diplomatic engagement to achieve its objectives.
“To achieve our goals, we will both fight and negotiate,” Ghalibaf said, adding that Iran would confront its adversaries with full force when necessary and increase its military readiness whenever possible.
He also stressed the importance of translating battlefield gains into political achievements, saying military victories should be consolidated diplomatically to secure gains and strengthen the country.
Ghalibaf said the dual-track strategy did not mean Iran intended to engage in an endless war or perpetual negotiations. Instead, he said, Tehran would continue until its adversary had no alternative but to accept what Iran considers the legitimate rights of its people or suffer defeat.
Separately, US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott recently dismissed reports that Iran had transferred $200 million in cash to Hezbollah, describing the claims as fabricated.
“Hezbollah is trying to save face with fake stories about cash influxes from Iran,” Pigott said, asserting that the money was not there.
He added that Iran's severe economic crisis and US restrictions on its oil exports had undermined Tehran's ability to provide financial support to its regional allies at previous levels.
