ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Ahmad al-Jarba, head of Syria’s Al-Ghad Movement, in Erbil on Thursday, where they discussed the latest political developments in Syria and the wider region.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on recent changes and developments in Syria and the broader Middle East, according to a statement on the meeting.

The Kurdistan Region has maintained an active diplomatic role in Syrian affairs, engaging with Syrian political figures, Kurdish political representatives, and regional and international actors to encourage dialogue, stability, and protection of the rights of Kurds and other communities in Syria.

Prime Minister Barzani has held repeated meetings with Ahmad al-Jarba over the years, including discussions on Syria’s political future, peaceful conflict resolution, and relations between Kurdish and Arab communities.

More broadly, Erbil’s ties with a range of Syrian political actors have provided a channel for dialogue as Syria navigates its post-Assad transition.

The Kurdistan Region has also emphasized the importance of a political settlement that preserves Syria’s stability while safeguarding the interests of the country’s diverse communities.
