ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced a 75 percent reduction in fines for foreign nationals with expired visas or residence permit cards, allowing eligible individuals to settle their outstanding penalties at a reduced rate until December 31, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the KRG said the decision applies to foreign nationals who entered the Kurdistan Region legally with visas but were unable, for various reasons, to renew their visas, obtain residence permit cards, or renew expired cards.
According to Ministerial Order No. 32557, issued on October 15, eligible individuals can benefit from the exemption by visiting one of the Kurdistan Region’s residency directorates before the deadline.
Under the decision, applicants will be required to pay only 25 percent of their total accumulated fines for visa or residency violations, in accordance with the KRG’s Instruction No. 1 of 2021.
The KRG urged eligible foreign nationals to complete the necessary procedures before the end of the year to benefit from the reduced penalties.
