ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - U.S. embassies across the Middle East have issued security alerts warning American citizens that rapidly changing security conditions could lead to flight cancellations, airspace closures and other travel disruptions.

The warnings specifically cited attacks by the Houthi group against Saudi Arabia and said the conflict could escalate quickly and spread beyond areas currently affected by fighting.

Security alerts were issued for Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, Israel and Jerusalem.

U.S. citizens traveling to or already present in those areas were advised to monitor airports and airlines closely and prepare alternative travel plans in case conditions deteriorate.

The alerts also warned that Iran and groups aligned with Tehran could potentially target U.S. interests, locations associated with the United States or American citizens around the world.

U.S. companies and other institutions linked to the country were also identified as potential targets.

The embassies urged travelers to remain alert to changes in local security conditions and aviation operations, particularly because an escalation could affect commercial flights with little notice.

The warnings come amid heightened regional tensions and continuing concerns that military developments could disrupt transportation links beyond the immediate areas of confrontation.
