Qalibaf To Munir: We Have Nothing New To Say To Washington Until Our Seven Conditions Are Met
The statement comes as Pakistan's Army Chief General Asim Munir is in Tehran in his capacity as one of the two primary mediators between Iran and the United States, making Qalibaf's message a direct communication to Washington through its own chosen channel
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf told Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir during a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday that Iran has nothing new to say to Washington and that the United States cannot gain Iran's trust unless it fulfills Tehran's seven conditions, in a statement that uses Pakistan's mediating role to deliver a direct and unambiguous message to Washington through its own chosen diplomatic channel.
The meeting between Qalibaf and Munir places Iran's parliament speaker at the center of the mediation track on the same day that Munir arrived in Tehran as one of the two primary intermediaries between Tehran and Washington alongside Qatar. Iran first transmitted its seven-point conditions to the United States through Qatar in late September, with Iranian FM Araghchi detailing the proposal at the UNGA margins as requiring the US to lift its naval blockade, remove sanctions on oil sales, release frozen assets, and observe a regional ceasefire in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming nuclear talks.
Qalibaf's statement that Iran has nothing new to say to Washington is a pointed message at a moment of significant diplomatic activity. Reuters reported in late September that the document under negotiation describes a seven-day confidence-building framework and a return to an enhanced June MOU, with the gap being sequencing rather than substance. A US official told Al Jazeera and Axios that Trump is willing to give Iran sanctions relief and release frozen funds for concrete nuclear progress. Trump has publicly rejected the current Iranian offer as unacceptable while simultaneously saying he likes making deals. Qalibaf's message through Munir is Iran's institutional response to that ambiguity: the conditions are the conditions, and nothing has changed.
The statement also arrives hours after Netanyahu publicly declared that eliminating the Iranian regime is the primary Israeli objective and that he discussed this with Trump on Sunday, and as Qatar's Foreign Ministry confirmed that US-Iran negotiations are continuing despite growing tensions.
