White House: America Will Never Be Communist
After Democrats won Congress, the White House says the president will keep fighting “state-led tyranny,” while Republican officials describe heavy losses and attention turns to Vance and 2028
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The White House said on Wednesday that President Donald Trump will always be committed to the fight against “state-led tyranny” and that America will never, ever be a communist country, a day after Democrats were projected to win both chambers of Congress. The statement was posted on the White House account on X.
It echoed a proclamation Trump signed on Tuesday declaring November 1 to 7 “Anti-Communism Week.”
The proclamation says the American experiment faces renewed threats as “socialist, communist, and radical leftist ideologies” find greater expression, and that “under my leadership” the United States will never become a communist country. It uses much of the language Trump used during the midterm campaign, NBC News reported, when he called the choice “communism or common sense” and compared Democratic candidates to communists. Trump has repeatedly called New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic socialist, a communist.
The White House has taken a defiant line since the results. It posted “PSA: TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT” on Wednesday and said attempts to impeach him or reverse his agenda would fail, and that he “will never stop fighting.” A White House official said that if Democrats “abuse their power” with investigations and subpoenas, they should be reminded that the administration still controls the federal government and all its powers. Incoming House Oversight Chairman Robert Garcia of California wrote “LAWYER UP” after the House flipped.
MSNBC quoted the chair of Michigan’s Republican Party as saying the party’s results in the state were a heavy defeat and that its national losses were catastrophic. Republican Mike Rogers lost the Michigan Senate race to Democrat Abdul El-Sayed. The same text says Fox News, citing sources, reported that Vice President JD Vance is looking ahead to the 2028 election to build a new coalition with voters disillusioned with Trump, and that a US official called the “four jobs” he has cited in his role a slogan to rally supporters of the new right. Vance has said the party must speak to the new working-class coalition that Trump brought in, and that Republicans cannot rely on voters turning out without Trump on the ballot.
NBC News and CBS News projected that Democrats won the House and the Senate. Trump has said Democrats “did a good job,” and that he is willing to work with them, while also vowing vetoes.
