For the People, the Nation, and the World: A Pursuit of Happiness, Rejuvenation, and Common Good

—On the 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China

July 1 this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Since the beginning of modern times, China had suffered from foreign aggression, internal turmoil, national humiliation, and great hardship for its people. Many Chinese patriots searched tirelessly for a path to national salvation, but none found the right way to change China’s future. It was not until 1921, when the CPC was founded, that the Chinese revolution took on an entirely new look.

Over the past 105 years, the CPC has continued to strengthen itself and bring together outstanding talent. From just over 50 members at the time of its founding, it has grown into the world’s largest Marxist governing party, with more than 100 million members and over 5 million primary-level Party organizations.

Over the past 105 years, the CPC has united and led the Chinese people through a magnificent journey of struggle, profoundly changing the future of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation. It has enabled the Chinese nation to achieve a great transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has entered an irreversible historical course.

Over the past 105 years, the CPC has united and led the Chinese people in opening up and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics and advancing Chinese modernization. It has transformed a once poor and weak old China into the world’s second largest economy and the largest manufacturing country. China has built the world’s largest education, social security, and healthcare systems. Since reform and opening up began more than 40 years ago, over 700 million Chinese people have been lifted out of poverty, creating a miracle in the history of global poverty reduction. China has also made rapid progress in high-tech fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and manned spaceflight, becoming a key force in global scientific and technological innovation.

After more than a century, the CPC remains in its prime. The reason why the CPC has always stood at the forefront of the times and led the Chinese people in achieving historic achievements and historic changes lies in the valuable experience formed and upheld by generations of Chinese Communists through long-term struggle.

First, the CPC upholds the people-centered philosophy. The people are the creators of history and the strongest foundation and deepest source of strength for modernization. The CPC has always taken the people’s aspiration for a better life as its goal, and has ensured that development is for the people, relies on the people, and its fruits are shared by the people.

Second, the CPC upholds independence and self-reliance. The CPC has always proceeded from China’s national conditions and kept the future of China’s development and progress firmly in its own hands. Through independent exploration, the Chinese people have created a new path to Chinese modernization and a new form of human advancement.

Third, the CPC upholds fundamental principles and breaks new ground. The CPC has integrated the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and fine traditional Chinese culture, and has continued to advance theoretical and practical innovation. In the new era, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has focused on the major task of building a Marxist party that is fit for long-term governance, and has developed Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building, providing scientific guidance for Party building in the new era.

Fourth, the CPC upholds self-reform. Having the courage to carry out self-reform is the most distinctive part of the CPC’s character and its greatest strength. The CPC has exercised full and rigorous Party self-governance, continued to improve, reform, and renew itself, and advanced Party conduct, clean governance, and the fight against corruption. This ensures that the Party always remains the strong leadership core of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Chinese Communists have always worked for the happiness of the people, the rejuvenation of the nation, and the common good of the world. Over the past century and more, the CPC has not only profoundly changed China, but also made important contributions to world peace and development. In the new era, the CPC has kept the future of humanity in mind, led China’s diplomacy with the goal of building a community with a shared future for humanity, and actively implemented the four global initiatives: the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. With new achievements in Chinese modernization, China is creating new opportunities for world development and will remain a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order.

Those who share the same vision are not separated by mountains and seas. In recent years, exchanges between China and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq have grown closer at the party-to-party level. Visits by political party delegations have become more frequent, and exchanges on governance experience have continued to deepen. The first Global Civilization Initiative research center in the Middle East has been established in the KRI. Kurdish language editions of important works by General Secretary Xi Jinping have also been published successively. These efforts have built bridges for the two sides to enhance mutual understanding, promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and bring our peoples closer.

Standing at a new starting point, China is ready to work with all sectors of the KRI to deepen exchanges and mutual learning, expand practical cooperation, jointly explore modernization paths suited to our own conditions, better benefit both peoples, and make new contributions to regional peace and stability and to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
