PHOTOS: Kurdistan flag flown over Erbil by KRG aviation team
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) aviation team at the Erbil Internationa Airport flew Kurdistan flags over Erbil in two helicopters on Sunday, a day after an attack on a Kurdish party office in Baghdad in which the flag was publicly burned by pro-Iran militias.
On Saturday, hundreds of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) supporters stormed the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) office in Baghdad, torched the building, and made a show of setting fire to the Kurdistan flag just outside.
This sparked widespread anger throughout the autonomous federal region.

Kurdish social media users circulated photos of Kurdistan's flag as they called for holding the perpetrators of the attack accountable.

The spokesman for the operations of the military section at Erbil airport, Lieutenant Colonel Shorsh Abdullah, told Kurdistan 24, that today's activity aimed to “raise the Kurdistan flag to respond to those who burned it yesterday."
Abdullah continued, “this flag will remain high and will not be brought down. The flag of Kurdistan will always have its protectors, and its value will not break by setting it on fire, but rather it remains high and patronizing."

"Our message is: The flag of Kurdistan is preserved," added Abdullah.
