Coalition committed to enhancing capabilities of Peshmerga M4 Warehouse: official

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The US-led coalition against ISIS is committed to enhancing the capabilities of the M4 Warehouse, Col. Todd Burroughs, Deputy Director of the coalition's Military Advisor Group North, told Kurdistan 24 on Monday. 

"Sustainment and the provision of logistical support is essential to effective military operations," he said. "The M4 Directorate and Warehouse personnel provide the sustainment function for the Ministry of Peshmerga," he said. 

"The M4 is responsible for equipping, arming, feeding, fueling, and maintaining among its many functions," he added. "The Coalition is committed to enhancing the capabilities of the M4 through advise, assist, and enable because, through the M4, the Ministry of Peshmerga will be able to provide enduring defeat Daesh (Arabic acronym for ISIS) capacity."

He also said that the Ministry of Peshmerga's M4 Directorate and Warehouse "is doing tremendous work providing logistical support to the Peshmerga and, through our partnership, are making incredible advances to further enhance their capabilities."

Sustainment Advisors from the US-led coalition met with the Ministry of Peshmerga M4 Directorate and Warehouse personnel on Sunday to plan divestments and distributions of new equipment to the Peshmerga in the upcoming weeks.

Also, on Feb. 25, US Colonel Patrick Douglas and Peshmerga officials visited the general logistics directorate of the Ministry of Peshmerga to investigate what specific equipment the ministry requires.

The Ministry of Peshmerga regularly receives assistance from the coalition. The assistance usually comes in the form of ammunition and vehicles provided through the US Department of Defense (DoD)-funded Counter-ISIS Train and Equip Fund (CTEF) program.

On Wednesday, the coalition provided another batch of Humvees to the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga forces.

Also, on Feb. 28, the 2nd Support Forces Command (previously affiliated to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) received ammunition from the Ministry of Peshmerga's M4 Warehouse after they joined the Ministry of Peshmerga.
