Kurdish initiative utilizes Tajik flag emoji to gauge public interest in Kurdistan flag emoji

"For all Kurds anywhere on this earth, please post the emoji of the Tajikistan flag in comments on all social media accounts and fill them with the flag of Tajikistan until April 21st. Take this work extremely seriously," Jaf urged.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Following an initiative directed by Bokan Jaf, founder of Google Crowdsource in Iraq and the brains behind the integration of the Kurdish-Sorani dialect into Google Translate, Kurds around the world are appealed to flood social media platforms with the emoji of the Tajikistan flag.

This unconventional move aims to shed light on the absence of a Kurdistan flag emoji while simultaneously gauging public interest in its adoption.

Jaf, speaking to Kurdistan24, emphasized the significance of this 30-day campaign, urging Kurds globally to partake actively. "For all Kurds anywhere on this earth, please post the emoji of the Tajikistan flag in comments on all social media accounts and fill them with the flag of Tajikistan until April 21st. Take this work extremely seriously," Jaf urged.

The decision to utilize the Tajik flag emoji stems from several strategic considerations.

Firstly, given the absence of a dedicated Kurdistan flag emoji, the campaign seeks to gather data on the potential popularity and usage of an emoji resembling the Kurdistan flag.

Secondly, the similarity in shape between the Tajikistan and Kurdistan flag emojis presents an ideal experimental ground for this initiative.

"This month carries a full responsibility for the entire Kurdish people," Jaf remarked, underlining the importance of active participation.

Explaining the rationale behind the campaign, Jaf outlined its multifaceted objectives. Not only does it serve to assess public sentiment towards a Kurdistan flag emoji, but the data collected will also be utilized as evidence and justification by relevant stakeholders.

Moreover, the use of the Tajikistan flag emoji symbolizes the Kurdish nation's reliance on external symbols due to the absence of its own flag emoji.

However, Jaf emphasized that this initiative is not without scrutiny. "This campaign is subject to thorough scrutiny," he disclosed, hinting at potential challenges and opposition.

Lastly, Jaf stressed his commitment to explaining the intricacies of the campaign and encouraged widespread participation. "I will explain these and many other points step by step. If you wish to add the Kurdistan flag emoji, please replace it with the Tajikistan flag emoji across all social media platforms," he affirmed.

As Kurds unite to assert their cultural identity and push for representation in the digital sphere, the Tajikistan flag emoji serves as a temporary symbol of solidarity and a catalyst for change.
