Iraq to be excluded in new US travel ban
US President Donald Trump’s new immigration order is expected to drop Iraq from the list of countries temporarily banned from traveling to the US.

WASHINGTON DC, United States (Kurdistan24) – US President Donald Trump’s new immigration order is expected to drop Iraq from the list of countries temporarily banned from traveling to the US.
A new ban would only limit citizens from the six Islamic countries for 90 days including Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
US officials citing the latest draft in circulation said President Trump was going to sign a new administrative order to restrict entry, leaving Iraq out of the list.
Four anonymous officials said the White House was urged to reconsider the ban following pressure from the Pentagon and State Department, given the pivotal role played by Iraq in the fight against the Islamic State (IS).
Trump spoke to Congress earlier, emphasizing new measures would soon be taken to safeguard US security.
He is expected to sign the revised order in the coming days. However, officials warn there would still be a change before the final decree was signed.
Additionally, the new administrative order would no longer stop receiving Syrian refugees indefinitely.
Syrian refugees would be included as part of a general 120-day suspension of new refugee admissions.
During a recent interview, President Trump said he was open to immigration legislation.
The US President added he would consider providing legal status for illegal immigrants in the country and grant citizenship to children brought to the US.
