IS claims responsibility for suicide car bomb in Baghdad
The so-called Islamic State (IS) on Saturday claimed responsibility for an attack in the heart of the Iraqi capital which killed and injured many people.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (Kurdistan24) – The so-called Islamic State (IS) on Saturday claimed responsibility for an attack in the heart of the Iraqi capital which killed and injured many people.
The blast took place at the gate of a traffic police office in the district of Karrada.
A car bomb detonated after the vehicle failed to get inside the building. The explosion also set off other vehicles near the building.
The blast killed four people, including a traffic officer, and injured four more policemen, the spokesperson of the Interior Ministry Saad Maan said on Friday.
Following the attack, ambulances dispatched to the explosion site and transferred the wounded people to nearby hospitals.
In an online statement released on Saturday, the insurgent group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The report mentioned the car bomb targeted “a Shia gathering” in the Karrada district of Baghdad.
In the past months, IS has repeatedly attacked different neighborhoods and areas in Baghdad, killing and injuring many civilians.
Locals continue to complain to the Iraqi security forces for failing to provide security and stability in the capital of Iraq.
