Iraq threatens to resume military attacks on Kurdistan

The Iraqi army threatened to deploy military forces in the Kurdistan Region areas and resume attacks against the Peshmerga forces.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi army threatened to deploy military forces in the Kurdistan Region areas and resume attacks against the Peshmerga forces.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command in a statement on Wednesday threatened the Kurdistan Region, claiming federal forces had been given orders to secure areas and the border crossings in Kurdish territory.

“Iraqi federal forces are mandated to secure areas and borders,” in the Kurdistan Region, the statement said, warning that if the Peshmerga attempted to defend their lines, they would be "pursued by the force of federal law and not be safe.”
