ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Former Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani on Thursday thanked all those who sent their condolences and attended the funeral of his late nephew Dilovan Idris Barzani who passed away earlier in the week.

Barzani expressed his gratitude, in a letter, to the people of Kurdistan, the political parties, the consuls of countries, clerics, representatives of the national components of Kurdistan, representatives of international organizations, academics, security forces, and others.

He also thanked those outside of the Kurdistan Region, in Europe and North America, and especially the Peshmerga forces and the families of the martyrs.

The Kurdish leader’s message comes on the last day of a three-day mourning period following Dilovan’s sudden death on Monday from a heart attack.

He held no official position but was considered a prominent social figure, taking part in events across the Kurdistan Region as a representative for the Kurdish PM.
