Chinese companies interested in investing in Kurdistan: Diplomat
Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani said the Chinese companies could play an essential role in infrastructure, trade, and investment in the Kurdistan Region.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – In a meeting with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister, the newly-appointed Chinese Consul General in Erbil expressed the interest of Chinese companies to work and invest in the Kurdistan Region.
KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the newly-appointed Consul General Ni Roch and an accompanying delegation in Erbil on Monday.
Roch thanked the KRG institutions for all their support and facilitation and reiterated on strengthening relations between China and the Kurdistan Region, a statement released on the KRG website read.
Roch said he would work to improve political, economic, trade, cultural, and scientific relations between both sides.
The Chinese diplomat expressed the interest of his country’s companies to work and invest in the Kurdistan Region, the statement said.

Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Roch on his appointment as Chinese Consul General in the Kurdistan Region and expressed the KRG’s desire to strengthen ties with China in all sectors.
Barzani welcomed the will of the Chinese companies to invest in Kurdistan, reiterating the Region’s readiness to collaborate with them. He also said the companies could play an essential role in infrastructure, trade, and investment in the Kurdistan Region.
The KRG Prime Minister highlighted new investment opportunities in the Kurdistan Region as the war against the Islamic State is now over.
Both sides discussed the political situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the Middle East, the statement concluded.
