The Iraqi Journalists Union selected Kurdistan 24 as “the best and most prominent channel.”

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan 24 was named the best satellite TV channel in Iraq for 2020, according to a survey the Baghdad-based Iraqi Journalists Union conducted.
In a visit on Saturday to the Kurdistan 24 headquarters in the Kurdistan Region’s Erbil, a delegation from the Union awarded the channel’s leadership with the Certificate of Appreciation after it was selected the Best Television Channel for 2020 in Iraq.
The Iraqi Union selected Kurdistan 24 as “the best and most prominent channel,” as it has become an influential television channel in Iraq.
This is not the first time Kurdistan 24 is named among the best channels in the country. The network received the same plaudits in the past, particularly in the Kurdistan Region, mainly for its balanced coverage of news.
The Iraqi Journalists Union was established in 2005 and has branches across Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region.
The Union conducted a survey to determine the best channel in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The participants mainly voted for Kurdistan 24, Sa’d al-Aboudi, the head of the Union’s Erbil branch, revealed.
“Kurdistan 24 was selected as the best channel based on a number of criteria including truthful and responsible reporting,” Aboudi added.
Kurdistan 24 was launched on Oct. 31, 2015. Within a short period, the channel attracted viewers across the region and became an important source of news for major international media outlets around the world.
The channel also has a website that provides news in Arabic, Kurdish—both Sorani and Kurmanji dialects—English, Turkish, and Persian. Its satellite broadcast is currently limited to the Kurdish language.
