PM Barzani emphasizes importance of cooperation between Peshmerga and Iraqi Army in meeting with coalition commander

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga during his meeting with Brigadier General Karl Harris, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Global Coalition in Iraq and Syria, on Tuesday.
“We emphasized the importance of strengthening the cooperation between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga, particularly in the disputed territories to eliminate terrorist threats and activate joint security coordination centers in these areas,” Barzani said in a post on his Facebook account.

“Pleased to meet with Brigadier General Karl Harris, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Global Coalition in Iraq and Syria,” he added. “We discussed the developments in the region and confronting terrorist threats in Iraq.”
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief reiterated the coalition’s support for the Peshmerga against ISIS and emphasized that ISIS still poses a real threat to the security and stability of Iraq and Syria.

“We also discussed progress in our reforms and the efforts to organize and unify Peshmerga units within the Peshmerga Ministry,” Barzani added.
