There is strong cooperation between Italian and Kurdistan Region archaeologists, says Italian Consul General

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Italian Consul General Michele Camerota on Monday told Kurdistan24 that “there is very strong cooperation between our Italian archaeologists and the Kurdish counterparts.”
The Italian Consulate in Erbil organized a workshop in which 11 archaeological teams from Italian universities discussed archaeological tasks with the Kurdistan Region's archaeological teams.
"The aim of this initiative for the consulate and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to pay tribute to the work of our archaeologists… we are proud of our primacy somehow because we have at the moment 11 missions in Kurdistan and more than 20 in all Iraq,” said the Consul General.
Camerota also said that the Kurdistan Region is “sometimes defined as the cradle of civilization.”
We share the view of the [Kurdistan] Regional Government to promote cultural tourism for example we do believe this is also all over the world a new kind of tourism" he noted and added, “As Italian government, we are proud to have supported the first ever archaeological park in Iraq which was inaugurated on October 22 in Faida in the governorate of Duhok is the Sennacherib Archaeological Park.”
Meanwhile, the diplomat reaffirmed Italy’s support for the Peshmerga forces.
