Third Kurdish horse festival featured competitive, strong horses
According to international historians, from Herodotus to the modern era, the Kurdish horse is unique, strong, tolerable, eats little, and resists hard weather in mountain areas.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The festival of the horse-riding competition for 45 original Kurdish horses was undergone in the provinces of Hamadan, Sanandaj, and the Anahita in Kengawar city in Kermanshah province in the northwest of Iran (Rojhilat) and Khuzestan.
According to international historians, from Herodotus to the modern era, the Kurdish horse is unique, strong, tolerable, eats little, and resists hard weather in mountain areas.
Also, it is known to be the original and extends into the other horses' group.
The Kurdish horse is recognized as having short ears, and strong legs, and is capable of dancing, and group moving. In the past, it was used as a transporter and on the battlefield.
There are 3 different types of Kurdish horses: Javi, Hewshari, and Sinjawi.
The Javi dominate in numbers and they are black or white. Yet, Hewshari comes second, the color is more black-reddish which is called Chwet, the third species Sinjawi is brighter and it is called Sura-Chwet, as well as bluish.
The distinctive features that the Kurdish horse has: are fast, smart movements, and tolerating hard circumstances in mountain areas.
The Kurdish horses are the original type in the world, unique, and having the capability is different from the rest in the world, very active and tolerate several different moves and workloads” Mahdi Gulbudaghi the Festival manager and riding trainer states.
Shaian Afrazi who is a horse rider states “The features that exist in Kurdish horses, can’t be found in other ones, which leads to having them in interesting, strong, and fast competitions”.
