Handing over wheat starts Wednesday

It is expected to have between 1 million and 200 thousand to 1 million and 500 thousand tons of wheat in the grain terminals

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Silo’s and grain terminals open their doors on Wednesday, according to a statement in a press conference on Tuesday announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Begard Talabani.

“All the requirements and documents as well as a team have been sent out to the to the Iraqi relevant departments,”

It is highlighted by Ms. Talabani that that will be confirmed by the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Trade will open silo’s doors, on Wednesday as well.

It is expected to have from 1 million and 200 thousand to 1 million and 500 thousand tons of wheat in the grain terminals and according to the satellite navigation survey, nearly 2 million and 955 thousand dunams grew wheat, confirmed by Talabani.

“There is a delay this year in comparison to the last one. Since the beginning of the year we made a request to the Iraqi Agricultural Committee, but they have fallen behind. As well as to arrange a meeting with Committee 57 who is the head of the Committee of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture,” Talabani stated.

“One ton wheat will be bought for 850 thousand Iraqi dinars by the Iraqi government.  Any remainder of the crop which is outside the agreement with the Iraqi Federal government, will be sold out to the private sector within the Kurdistan Region,” Talabani continued.

There is an agreement with the private company whom is approved by the Council of the Ministers and an investment board too who makes the decision to buy the wheat that is remined outside the silos and grain terminals, according to Talabani’s statement.
