Kurdistan Region’s President Nechirvan Barzani, British Amb. Hitchen discuss key issues
Both Kurdistan Region's President Barzani and Ambassador Hitchen emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue to address issues between Erbil and Baghdad, based on the Iraqi constitution, to ensure the protection of all citizens' rights.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Thursday, June 6, Kurdistan Region’s President Nechirvan Barzani received British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hitchen to discuss various pressing issues, including the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad.
According to a statement from the Kurdistan Region’s Presidency office, the meeting covered a range of topics, including the current situation in Iraq, the relations between the United Kingdom and both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, and the internal situation within the Kurdistan Region.

Kurdistan Region’s President Barzani highlighted that achieving stability in Iraq hinges on a joint understanding and fundamental resolution of issues between Erbil and Baghdad, with a commitment to constitutional implementation.
The leaders agreed on the significance of conducting the Kurdistan parliamentary elections with the inclusive participation of all political parties and communities at an appropriate time this year.
Ambassador Hitchen commended President Barzani's efforts to facilitate the elections.
The meeting, which also included British Consul General in Erbil James Goldman, provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on the latest regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.
