Peshmerga Ministry, Coalition forces discuss Memorandum of Understanding
In the meeting, both sides discussed the implementation of the memorandum of understanding and emphasized the need to reorganize the Peshmerga forces in accordance with the strategic plan.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Abdulkhaliq Babiri, Deputy Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, Lieutenant General Issa Ozer, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Peshmerga, and Ministry of Peshmerga Secretary-General Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtiar Mohammed Sadiq, on Tuesday met with General Kenneth F. McKenzie, head of the US-led Coalition Senior Advisory Group, and Colonel Mike Gachero, senior military advisor at the US Consulate in Erbil, to discuss monthly evaluation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Peshmerga and the US Department of Defense.
In the meeting, both sides discussed the implementation of the memorandum of understanding and emphasized the need to reorganize the Peshmerga forces in accordance with the strategic plan.
The Peshmerga Ministry's plan for the current phase of the Peshmerga forces is to take responsibility for the implementation of the strategic plans of the Peshmerga Ministry in the process of unification of forces.
On their part, the coalition advisory team for the Kurdistan Region expressed satisfaction with the Peshmerga Ministry's efforts. As part of their effort to implement the provisions of the memo and to give the process of force reorganization, the Peshmerga Ministry and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) attach great importance to their efforts.
Coalition forces in the Kurdistan Region play a crucial role in maintaining security and stability. With their presence, local security forces can receive support, training, and resources to effectively combat terrorist organizations and maintain law and order. Additionally, the coalition forces contribute to building the capacity of local security institutions, enhancing their ability to independently address security challenges in the region.
