Duhok Governor, Germany’s Special Representative for Migration Agreements discuss refugee issues
The meeting focused on strengthening the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Germany and addressing the refugee situation in Duhok province.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Duhok Governor Ali Tatar on Wednesday discussed refugee issues with Joachim Stamp, the Special Representative of the Federal Government for Migration Agreements, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting focused on strengthening the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Germany and addressing the refugee situation in Duhok province.
During the meeting, Stamp expressed gratitude to the people of Duhok for their hospitable treatment of refugees. He also praised the provincial administration and relevant authorities for their efforts in managing crises and resolving related challenges. Stamp reaffirmed Germany’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Kurdistan Region, refugees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Governor Tatar, in turn, thanked the German government for its continuous assistance, particularly during times of crisis. He expressed a strong desire to further develop relations with Germany.
The meeting highlighted the collaborative efforts between Duhok province and the German government in providing aid and support to those affected by displacement.
Nearly 131,700 refugees live in the Kurdistan Region's Duhok province, mostly Syrians.
