ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Nabaz Abdulhamid, Mayor of Erbil Central District, announced that the construction of the White Bazaar in Erbil is nearing completion and will soon be distributed to traders.

Speaking to Kurdistan24 on Saturday, Mayor Abdulhamid confirmed that the construction, which includes 708 shops, is in its final stages.

“The shops have been allocated to traders through a committee headed by the governor. The market has met all safety requirements, and traders will begin operations in the near future,” he said.

He explained that the previous Sim Bazaar, built on unregistered land by citizens, lacked proper safety conditions and was unsuitable for business.

In response, the Prime Minister allocated land on 120 Meter Street for the new bazaar, now known as the White Bazaar, which has been approved for trader use.

“The governor initiated the construction of the market, and a detailed plan was created. The shops were distributed to traders through a committee, and the traders will repay the construction costs to the government in long-term installments,” Abdulhamid stated.

He emphasized that the Kurdistan Regional Government has considered the traders' financial situations, ensuring that the charges are solely for the construction costs, which will be reimbursed to the government over time.
