Al-Sudani supports CoI to embolden, take more professional steps, avoid any political pressure

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The File of the Embezzlement in the Century revealed more details about the larceny occurred in Iraq’s governmental agencies and establishments. The Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani encouraged the Iraqi Commission of Integrity (CoI) in an announcement on Monday, to be more firm and work harder, but differently from the past to fight against the corruption.
According to the sources “Al-Sudani supported CoI to embolden and take more professional steps also not to fall in the trap of the political pressure.”
Recently, the Iraqi Government has been chasing up the suspected-corruption-cases file that was created years ago. It revealed the larcenies happened over years, and were identified as historical purloin that happened in-a-century.
The agency also intended to continue their investigation and get the culprits arrested.
In that announcement by the Iraqi Government PM, was underlined “Further shocking details were disclosed, the CoI is a very important agency and we support it to fight against the corruption.”
The announcement affirmed a large sum of money was embezzled in the governmental offices with the employees’ assistance. Such file became a dark stain in the ruling history of Iraq. In addition, it advised that, have illegally taken abroad, but there were efforts to return it back to Iraq.
The Iraqi Prime Minister confirmed and extended his support to CoI as well as assisting the board to work in a different way from the past.
The File of the Embezzlement in the Century also dealt with a file of the tax income and evasion as well as revenue, there were 2 billion and 500 million dollars, between September 2021 until August 2022.

The details disclosed 247 bank cheques were paid to 5 companies, then later withdrew in cash form from those companies’ bank accounts.
An arrest order was issued against the companies’ owners by the Iraqi Judiciary.
According to the reports were published by other media networks “The corruption spread all over Iraq, and few were arrested, yet only low-ranking officials were accused.”
In the past, the Head of Iraqi Commission of Integrity (CoI) Haidar Hanoun named the former Iraqi Minister of Finance Ali Allawi, the former Head of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service Raed Jouhi were in the File of the Embezzlement in the Century.

The issued arrest warrants included the former Iraqi President’s personal Secretary Ahmed Najati, the PM’s advisor Mushrik Abbas and few other officials.

According to CoI due to the ongoing investigation on many cases, no further names or locations get disclosed.
He further confirmed “There are collaborations between Iraqi state and other countries to extradite the suspects who were reported and confirmed by the judiciary and CoI.”
