Erbil Office of Barzani Charity Foundation provides drinkable water

It’s planed that Barzani Charity Foundation BCF’s Erbil branch to supply 20 large water tanks on daily basis, and distribute to the areas in Erbil that suffer from water shortage.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – In an announcement to Kurdistan 24, on Tuesday, the Manager of Erbil Office of the Barzani Charity Foundation BCF Stav Aso confirmed of existing a project that is providing the drinkable water to areas which ran out of water in Erbil capital city.  

It’s planed the BCF’s Erbil branch to supply 20 large water tanks on daily basis, and distribute to the areas in Erbil that suffer from water shortage. However, the Kurdistan Regional Government allocated an adequate budget to the Erbil Directorate of Water Resource to sort this urgent issue out.

Aso stated “Several avenues and places in Erbil run out of drinkable water, the foundation had a meeting with the Erbil Directorate of Water Resource, Erbil Governor and the Directorate of Water Resource of the Areas Around, so to discuss the water shortage in those areas”

“We would give extra assistance on top of the water that was provided to the residents by the Erbil Directorate of Water Resource, until the issue is sorted out,” He added.

According to Aso’s statement, in total, there are 12 avenues have run out of water, they are Badawa, Shurtawa, Glkand, New Berkot, Bahar Ave., Teachers’ Ave 1 and 2, Sarbakhoi, Daratw, Bahrka, and Shawes.

He emphasized on an important matter which is having water shortage only exists in few houses and/ or few avenues (but not all) in each of these named-above places. He also pointed out the reason behind that issue “It’s back to water level has lessened in the wells.”

“We agreed to start providing drinkable water to those areas from Wednesday. Our team member dealt with renting large water-carrier-vehicles. Each day, 20 water tanks move around, according to the agreement and the given instruction by the Erbil Directorate of Water and Erbil Governor. 2000 litters water provide to each accommodation.”

During the interview, Aso’s revealed the dedicated budget for the charity work of distributing water which is 150 million dinars, and it’s open and continues.

An estimated timeframe for this project is 3 months.
