Kurdistan Region braces for rising temperatures
Residents can expect clear, sunny skies with light dust throughout the day.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Meteorology and Seismology Directorate has issued a weather forecast predicting a rise in temperatures across the region on Saturday. The announcement indicates a noticeable increase compared to today's temperatures.
Residents can expect clear, sunny skies with light dust throughout the day. The forecasted high temperatures in Celsius for key cities and areas are as follows:
- Erbil: 42°C
- Sulaimani: 40°C
- Duhok: 41°C
- Kirkuk: 44°C
- Halabja: 42°C
- Zakho: 42°C
- Soran: 40°C
- Haji Omaran: 32°C
- Garmiyan Independent Administration: 44°C
The KRG has advised residents to take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated amid the rising heat, especially in areas where temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 40°C. Health experts recommend limiting outdoor activities during peak hours, drinking plenty of fluids, and wearing light, breathable clothing.
The region typically experiences its hottest weather during the summer months, with temperatures often soaring above 40°C. This increase is consistent with seasonal patterns, but the light dust mentioned in the forecast could reduce visibility and exacerbate respiratory conditions for some individuals.
As temperatures rise, the public is urged to stay informed about weather updates and heed advice from health and safety officials to ensure well-being during this period of extreme heat.
