Diyala provincial council elected Adnan al-Jairi as Governor
Meanwhile, Omar al-Korawi has been chosen as the Council's Chair, with Salem al-Tamimi serving as his deputy.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – It’s been very challenging to form the Diyala Governorate Council, taking 8 months to electing the governorate council. All the parties came to decided the posts of the council chairman, governor and deputies, at al-Rasheed hotel in Baghdad on August 2, in early beginning of a.m. (just right after the mid night).
Diyala provincial council elected Adnan al-Jairi as Governor of the city and Mustafa Talib and Ghazi Faisal appointed as Deputy Governors First and Second successively.
Meanwhile, Omar al-Korawi has been chosen as the Council's Chair, with Salem al-Tamimi serving as his deputy.
The Diyala’s Provincial Council held its first session to form a local government on February 5 this year, but the session remained open due to the political conflicts. The political parties failed to complete the session seven times in Diyala due to the lack of legal minimum quorum.
Following December 18th, the first governorate council was elected at the time, the ranking order in Diyala became: Shiite Tuna four seats, Mohammed Halbusi’s Taqadum three, Khamis Khanjar’s Siada three, Azmi Muthana Samarai two, Qais Ghazali’s Istihqaq one, Mohsen al-Mandalawi’s Main Coalition one and the PUK one chair.
