PM Masrour Barzani emphasizes importance of free, fair  parliamentary elections

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani underscored the significance of holding the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections in a manner that is free, fair, and devoid of any violations or fraud.

During a meeting on Wednesday with Claudio Cordone Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (Political) at UNAMI, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the need for a transparent electoral process.

According to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government, the primary focus of the discussion was on the ongoing preparations for the elections.

The UN's Special Representative expressed gratitude to the KRG for its support and effective coordination with the Iraqi High Electoral Commission, which is crucial for ensuring the successful conduct of the electoral process.

Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the critical role of the United Nations and international observers in monitoring the elections.

He stressed that their active involvement is essential to guarantee that the elections are conducted in a clean and immaculate manner, ensuring the legitimacy and integrity of the process.
