ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Sunday, the Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment, Mohammed Shukri, announced that designated companies have been identified to collect the wheat from the region's farmers that Baghdad has not received.

In a statement to Kurdistan 24, Shukri explained that a committee, led by the Investment Authority, has been actively working for two years to ensure the receipt of farmers' wheat.

The process, which was successfully implemented last year, involved dedicated projects for receiving and marketing wheat in Sulaimani, Erbil, and Dohuk.

"The process began on August 8, and the companies responsible for the collection were notified," Shukri said.

He specified that in Sulaimani, Garmian, and other areas, the Qaiwan Company was assigned, while Khoshnaw Company was designated in Erbil and Dohuk.

Shukri also mentioned that according to a directive from the Prime Minister's Office, other companies expressing interest in participating in the wheat collection can do so, following the procedures set by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

"In coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, instructions were issued for these companies to receive wheat until September 11," he added.

The companies must adhere to the schedule provided by the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade and follow the guidelines established by the committee last year to ensure the successful receipt of the remaining wheat from Kurdistan Region farmers.

Regarding pricing, Shukri noted that two prices have been set for one ton of wheat: 575 thousand dinars and 600 thousand dinars, reflecting the unchanged market price.

He emphasized the importance of continuing the marketing process and ensuring that farmers receive payment within two months.

Shukri urged farmers to deliver their wheat to the identified companies, ensuring the marketing of the remaining quantities that were not received by Baghdad.
