ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with outgoing Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Kathy Bunka, on Tuesday.

In a statement released by the Kurdistan Regional Government, Barzani expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Bunka for her contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and wished her success in her future endeavors.

The statement further revealed Canada's ongoing commitment to deepen its ties with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the trade sector. A delegation of Canadian agricultural companies is slated to visit the region this autumn.

The meeting also addressed the current dynamics between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.

Both sides concurred on the importance of the recent dialogues held in Erbil and stressed the need for further open and constructive discussions between Baghdad and Erbil, grounded in constitutional respect and recognition of the Kurdistan Region's federal status.
