ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, the Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Dwin Dam in Erbil province, highlighted the project's potential to positively impact agriculture, fish resources, and groundwater levels in the region.

"Water is prosperity, and further reconstruction and development of Kurdistan is our current and future program," stated PM Barzani, emphasizing the significance of the dam for the region's progress.

The ceremony was attended by KRG’s Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Bigard Talabani and Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment Mohammed Shukri, underscoring the government's commitment to this strategic project.

The Dwin Dam, with a vast reservoir spanning four square kilometers and a storage capacity of 100 million cubic meters, is a substantial undertaking. Constructed from RCC concrete, the dam will stand tall at 75 meters with a width of 320 meters.

The completion of this dam signifies the ninth cabinet's dedication to advancing the agricultural, water resources, and tourism sectors.

Beyond its agricultural and water management benefits, the dam is anticipated to stimulate the local economy by establishing a flourishing fishing center and creating opportunities for residents in the surrounding areas.
