Erbil municipality collects over 2,200 tons of garbage daily

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The head of Erbil Municipality, Karzan Hadi, announced on Tuesday that a total of 2,250 tons of garbage is collected daily in Erbil, including 1,600 tons from the city center and 650 tons from surrounding areas.

Speaking to Kurdistan24 on Tuesday, Hadi highlighted the municipality's commitment to maintaining cleanliness across the city.

He emphasized that specialized equipment and vehicles are used for daily waste collection in all neighborhoods and public spaces.

"The garbage collection process is conducted every day in all areas of Erbil, ensuring that the streets and public places are cleaned on a daily basis," he stated.

The volume of garbage collected fluctuates based on seasons, days, and special occasions, with waste increasing significantly during the summer months.

In addition to household waste, construction debris and sand mixtures are also commonly collected.

Hadi noted that the garbage is transported to the Environmental Protection Department in Kani Qirzhala for proper disposal.
