PM, Masrour Barzani: Quality of health service in public sector should get better
The Premier highlighted an important side of the health sector in Kurdistan Region which needs a lot of reform and support “therefore, from the beginning of the cabinet, health service reform was my priority. For such purpose we had also asked the foreign experts”
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani set the cornerstone of the largest cancer treatment hospital, in Erbil on Wednesday. The hospital considered as the largest in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
The Minister of Health, Saman Barzanji and many high-ranking officials in Kurdistan Region Government attended the foundation of the building ceremony.
The 9th Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government paid attention to different services, the Premier was delighted setting a cornerstone to such high-quality project that serves people in Erbil as well as all over Kurdistan Region’s.
Kurdistan Regional Government’s Prime Minister stated in his speech at the cornerstone setting ceremony of the largest Cancer Treatment Hospital in Erbil “there are several private hospitals in Kurdistan Region for cancer patients treatment serve our people, and patients from other parts of Iraq who turn to Kurdistan’s hospitals for treatment”
In his speech, the Prime Minister extended his gratefulness to the doctors and health workers for the services they provide to people.

“But unfortunately for two years, Covid-19 had put a lot of pressure on that sector, it had impact on our steps and actions, however, significant steps were taken in drug regulation” HE PM added "In the health sector, the public and private sectors must develop equally and parallelly, the quality of health in the public sector should get better, and patients in public hospitals must feel comfortable and served,"
PM Barzani pointed out that upon his recommendation, his office team was asked to establish a cooperation with the ministry of health, setting an experimental project to develop several public sector’s hospitals, from those is Rizgari Hospital which is one of the largest hospitals in Kurdistan.
With the completion of the hospital, patients wouldn’t need to travel abroad anymore to receive the best health treatment for cancer conditions.
