Lightning strike in Haji Omeran injures two, sent to Erbil for treatment

Lightning struck a tree under which the two individuals were seeking shelter in the highlands of Newban, Haji Omeran. The resulting fire caused varying degrees of burns on their bodies.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Two citizens, an uncle and his niece, sustained burn injuries after being struck by lightning in the highlands of Haji Omeran township. They have been transferred to Erbil for further medical care.

Dr. Ahmad Hassan, the director of health in Choman, informed Kurdistan24 that the incident occurred around 11:00 AM on Friday. Lightning struck a tree under which the two individuals were seeking shelter in the highlands of Newban, Haji Omeran. The resulting fire caused varying degrees of burns on their bodies.

The uncle, 24-year-old traffic policeman Mohammed Hassan, suffered burns on his back, hands, and legs. His niece, 14-year-old Rojan Abdullah Hassan, initially received treatment at Ashti Soran Hospital for burns on her legs.

Azad Salih Mahmood, the administrative director of Ashti Soran Hospital, confirmed to Kurdistan24 that both individuals have been transferred to Erbil Emergency Hospital, a specialized facility for burn treatment, to ensure they receive the best possible care.
