KRG Peshmerga Ministry delegation visits US for key military meetings
The visit, aimed at strengthening military cooperation between the US and the Kurdistan Region, comes at a time of growing strategic ties between the two sides.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Ministry of Peshmerga, led by Lieutenant General Issa Ozer, Chief of Staff of the Ministry, has been in the US for several days to attend a series of significant military meetings.
The visit, aimed at strengthening military cooperation between the US and the Kurdistan Region, comes at a time of growing strategic ties between the two sides. According to a reliable source from the Peshmerga Ministry, "The purpose of the visit is to develop military relations between the US and the Kurdistan Region; both sides want to develop their relations in all aspects."
During their stay in Washington, the delegation is expected to participate in joint meetings involving officials from the US, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region. These discussions are anticipated to further solidify the security partnership between the Peshmerga forces and the US, as well as with their Iraqi military counterparts.
The delegation's visit underscores the importance of continued US support for the Peshmerga forces in their fight against terrorism and in enhancing regional security and stability.
On Aug. 8, Peshmerga Minister Shoresh Ismail announced the delivery of a significant quantity of heavy weapons from the US government and military to the Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan Region.
