PM Masrour Barzani, French Ambassador discuss bilateral relations, elections, and oil exports
The two sides emphasized the importance of holding "clean and free elections under international supervision, free from violations," ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Wednesday, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Dorrell, to discuss the latest developments in Iraq and strengthen bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and France.
According to a statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), both sides exchanged views on the preparations for the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections.
The two sides emphasized the importance of holding "clean and free elections under international supervision, free from violations," ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.
In addition to the elections, the discussion also focused on the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region.
Both parties agreed that the suspension of oil exports has caused significant damage to Iraq’s federal budget, and they stressed the urgent need to restart exports to mitigate the economic impact.
The meeting highlighted France’s continued support for the Kurdistan Region and the importance of cooperation between the two sides in addressing pressing regional issues.
