Significant progress made in healthcare sector, says KRG Health Minister
Kurdistan Region boasts improved healthcare and reduces the need for overseas medical treatment.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has made substantial strides in improving its healthcare system, reducing the need for citizens to seek medical treatment abroad, according to Health Minister Saman Barzanji.
Speaking at the inauguration of advanced medical equipment at Rizgari Teaching Hospital in Erbil, Barzanji highlighted the significant progress achieved during the ninth government formation.
The new equipment, including CT scan devices, ultrasound devices, and other radiology systems, was provided by the office of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani to enhance the hospital's capabilities and better serve the people of the Kurdistan Region.
The minister emphasized that the KRG has prioritized healthcare and provided accessible services to citizens from all governorates and independent administrations. Despite facing numerous challenges in recent years, the health sector has witnessed remarkable improvements.
Barzanji noted that it is now uncommon for patients from the Kurdistan Region to travel abroad for medical treatment. Instead, citizens from other Iraqi provinces often seek healthcare services in the region's hospitals.
The KRG's commitment to healthcare is evident in the expansion of hospital facilities. During the past four years, 13 new government hospitals have been built, bringing the total number to 45.
This significant increase in hospital infrastructure has enhanced healthcare access and improved patient outcomes.
