KDP President Barzani, Russian Ambassador discuss regional stability, strengthening relations
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the political situation in Iraq and Syria, the latest regional developments, and the threats and challenges to stability in the region.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani received the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, in Pirmam, where they discussed various regional and bilateral issues, according to a statement from Barzani's office.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kutrashev praised the stability and peace in the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing Russia’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the region.
He noted that his country places great importance on its relationship with the Kurdistan Region and highlighted Russia’s role in raising awareness about the Kurdish issue.
This cooperation includes joint efforts between the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) representation in Russia, Soran University, and the Russian Institute of Oriental Studies.
Maxim Rubin, the Russian Consul General in Erbil, was also present at the meeting.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the political situation in Iraq and Syria, the latest regional developments, and the threats and challenges to stability in the region.
Both sides also touched upon the relationship between the KRG and the Federal Iraqi Government, as well as the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections.
